The obverse, (heads), has a denticalled outer rim and features the image of Australia's, (England's), Monarch at the time, King George V facing to the left, with the legend reading the Latin "GEORGIVS V D.G. BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP:"
This translates roughly to "George V, by the grace of God, King of all Britons, defender of the faith,
Emperor of India"
The reverse, (tails), has a denticalled rim and features the Australian Coat of Arms as issued by KEVII in 1908, with the words "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA" in a scroll at the base of the Coat of Arms, "ONE SHILLING" above the Coat of Arms, and the date underneath with ornaments either side. The 1927 shilling has no mint mark.
